Koen Herfst

Koen Herfst (1983, The Netherlands) is a versatile drummer, playing rock, metal, pop, hiphop and dance. He is known for his work with one of the biggest DJ’s in the world; ARMIN VAN BUUREN and metal bands I CHAOS, DEW-SCENTED, EPICA, & AFTER FOREVER amongst many other bands and projects. Playing on a professional level since he was 18, he has now played in more than 35 countries for audiences of 18 to 180.000.

Readers of Dutch drum magazine ‘Slagwerkkrant’ recently voted him as #1 rock/metal drummer of the Benelux and #3 in the ‘Drummer’s Drummer’ category. Koen just finished a massive world tour with ARMIN VAN BUUREN where he, as part of the ‘ARMIN ONLY’ show, played drum solo’s in venues like MADISON SQUARE GARDEN (New York), THE FORUM (L.A.), ZIGGODOME (Amsterdam) and COCA COLA DOME (Johannesburg).

BACK TO BALANCE brings together many (25!) musicians he played with throughout his career. To mention a few: MATS LEVEN (Krux, Therion, Yngwie Malmsteen, Candlemass), COEN JANSSEN (Epica), MARCELA BOVIO (Stream of Passion), MARCEL SINGOR (Holland’s nr. 1 rock guitarist) and DANIEL DE JONGH (Textures). On this album Koen not only plays drums, but also guitar, bass and does vocals as well!
