Born in 1988, Florian Hofer grew up in the countryside in Germany. “... There really wasn’t a lot going on in the area I was living back then. It was one of the things to do, being indoors, hanging around my dad’s stereo and trying to imitate what I was hearing”. ‘Heart Of Gold‘ was the song that led Florian grab a guitar when he was 13 years old. Starting out playing electric guitar in cover bands, and singing background vocals, he began to discover his singer/songwriter talents. All this led to starting his own band and together with his first agency he found himself touring in countless small clubs throughout Europe.
In 2011 Florian hooked up with drummer Atma Anur, who was residing in Krakow, Poland, who had been working with some of the big guitarists, such as Ritchie Kotzen, Joe Satriani and Jason Becker. While working with Atma, Florian got taught many theoretical aspects of timing while playing and writing music. This friendship led to playing and writing together for their project ‘Mothership’. While working in Krakow’s music scene with Atma, Florian also became friends with Pawel Maciwoda, the bass player of the 'Scorpions'. Together Atma, Pawel and Florian hung out in Pawel’s house and studio to record, rehearse and jam, which lead to yet another project 'Stirwater'. Meanwhile Florian kept on touring as a solo artist, with his own band, as well as touring with the award-winning singer/songwriter Kacey Cubero in Europe and in the US.
As part of passing some further stages at 'the school of Rock 'n' Roll', Florian moved to Los Angeles in 2012, to broaden his horizon to a world where many of his own influences had originated from. His life now being completely split up between living, writing and working the US, Germany and Poland, Florian performed in a number of LA and Hollywood based clubs, while supporting Kip Winger on his shows in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and continuing to tour and record with ‘Stirwater’ as well.
After returning to Germany in 2013, the Stirwater project was no longer continued and Florian got into contact with producer/engineer Henry Hirsch (Kravitz/Jagger/Madonna). After Henry listened to Florian’s demo, he promptly invited him to his Waterfront Studio in New York. The chemistry which resulted form working together has lead to Henry stating the following: “We are dedicated in the same way I was with Lenny Kravitz, to push ourselves beyond our goals in making Florian's first record. We both are inspired by music that was made without the involvement in computer technology. This is a sound that relies more in the quality of its live feel, mixed with the raw skills Florian showcases“.
